Choosing a Curriculum
With hundreds of choices available to homeschool parents, choosing one can sometimes be overwhelming. Come hear from a veteran homeschool mom about the types of curriculum and how and when to use each one. Parents attending are invited to bring their own favorite curriculum to show and tell us about it.

Homeschooling Elementary Grades - Tuesday, August 10th from 6:00 - 7:30 pm

Homeschooling Elementary Grades
In this workshop homeschool veteran Cindy Holman will share her insights into teaching your elementary age children including what type of curriculum to use, how to schedule your day, how to manage several grade levels at one time, what to do with pre-school children, how to evaluate progress and report semester grades and more.

Homeschooling Through High School - Tuesday, August 10th from 7:30 - 8:30 pm

Homeschooling Through High School
Cindy will explain how the high school years are different and what parents need to know about credits and graduation requirements, preparing students for college and work, taking advantage of opportunities for high school students and choosing curriculum for high school. She will also be explaining the changes to graduation requirements that the state of Tennessee has adopted and the changes that Daniel 1 is adopting as well that will affect all students entering 9th grade in 2009 and thereafter.

Elementary Mathematics Explained - Thursday, September 16th from 6:00 - 9:00 pm

Elementary Mathematics Explained
Cindy Holman, who taught her own two children and has tutored many others in math over the last 10 years, will share tips on using manipulatives (including home-made ones) to teach new concepts and tools for helping memorization of basic facts. She will demonstrate various techniques for helping children master mental math. If you would like to expand your own knowledge of basic math, don't miss this workshop which will help you to better help your child be successful with math.
