Daniel 1 Academy Alumi - Ryan Lipman
Ryan Lipman is one of our own Daniel 1 graduates. Like many athletes striving to go to the collegiate and professional levels of play, homeschooling is a plus to fit into a hectic schedule. Below is a quote from the Tennessean this year regarding the excellence of Lipman's ability as an incoming freshman to Vanderbilt.
Vanderbilt freshman Ryan Lipman plays like senior on tennis court
All-America tag will come with two NCAA wins
"As the only freshman playing No. 1 singles for any SEC men's tennis team, Lipman was tossed into the fire against some of the country's top amateur talent.
"There were a bunch of matches where I got beat up," Lipman said. "You can't come in and play No. 1 and win them all."
Lipman, a Williamson County player who models his traditional, net-charging style after Roger Federer, compiled a record of 22-13 overall and 6-5 in the SEC while knocking off 10 nationally ranked players. He won SEC Co-Freshman of the Year honors and earned a spot in the NCAA singles championships, which start May 26 in Athens, Ga."

ATHENS, Ga. - One day after earning his first career postseason win with a three-set victory over No. 25 Thibaut Charron of VCU, Vanderbilt freshman Ryan Lipman was eliminated from the NCAA Singles Championship on Thursday when he was defeated in the second round by Ohio State's Chase Buchanan.
The 34th-ranked Nashville native dropped the opening set to Buchanan, 6-3, before taking the second set, 6-1, to even the match. Buchanan, who is seeded No. 7 in the tournament, would win the third set, 6-4, to clinch the match and advance to the third round.
The loss ended Lipman's first season of college tennis. It was a season that included many top honors such as being named Ohio Valley Rookie of the Year, SEC Co-Freshman of the Year and First Team All-SEC. Lipman ended the season with a 23-14 record.
Great job Ryan on a very successful Freshman year!
