- Girl Scouts: Girl Scout Troop 509 wants new members! Girls ages 5 -18 are invited to get involved in Brownies, Jr's, Cadets & Sr's. The troup had 16 girls that met together last year. They meet at the Cookeville Public Library every 1st & 3rd Tuesday each month. - BSA TROOP 234: Meets each Monday at 7:00 pm - Daniel 1 Academy. Contact Daniel 1 Academy if you have a boy ages 11 and older intersted in joining this troop. Next activity scheduled: August 20-22, 2010 - District Canoe School on the Hiwassee. For more information on this troop, check out their website at http://troop234.webs.com.
- Water Talks: Water Talks are quarterly science sessions presented by one of our homeschool moms, Karina Bynum, a water engineer. She offers these sessions to students grades K-12 at Daniel 1 Academy. Each meeting will be held on the second Tuesday of the third month. To be included in our email list, please send your contact information to watertalks@hotmail.com. 2011 DATES: Tuesday, November 9th - Learn about water in soil & build a water pump at Daniel 1 Academy 5 pm; Tuesday, February 8th - Learn about water in the air - experiment with states of water at Daniel 1 Academy 5 pm; Tuesday, May 10th - Field Trip to Cane Creek Park in Cookeville to study Dams & Lakes (time TBA by email).
