Graduation Requirements
In order to receive a diploma from Daniel 1 Academy, students must meet both of the following requirements:
Complete a minimum of 20 credits
Score at least 9.0 on the yearly achievement test
Any student not meeting both of these requirements may have to seek a GED diploma.
Students planning on graduating will need to indicate such on their Daniel 1 application. These students will need to take the achievement test with Daniel 1 in January in Cookeville if they want to be included in the class rank determination. It is only a 3-hour test. Student’s class rank will be determined by the score on the test and the valedictorian and salutatorian will also be decided.
Below is listed the two courses of high school study. We encourage our students to earn more than the minimum 20 credits, especially if they are college-bound. A credit is equivalent to 150 hours of classroom instruction. Daniel 1 reserves the right to refuse acknowledgement of any credits we feel are questionable. It is the parents' responsibility to prove that all credits in question have been completed in an acceptable manner.
Parents should try to learn as much as possible about planning a student's course of study and the correct way to report credits and grades. Daniel 1 occasionally offers a free training workshop entitled "Home Schooling through High School." Call the school or see newsletter page for upcoming dates.

COLLEGE ENTRANCE TESTS
There are two tests that students take to gain acceptance into a college or university; the ACT and the SAT. Applications for these tests can be picked up at any university or college. You can also register on-line at www.act.org for the ACT test and at www.collegeboard.com for the SAT test. Daniel 1 Academy's High School Code for these tests is 430-444.
The PSAT (the Pre-SAT) can be taken in October of the 11th grade and is used by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation to award scholarship funds. Daniel 1 Academy does administer this test each fall to any of our 11th grade students who can come to Daniel 1 to take it.
The PSAT is taken by 11th graders as a practice test for the SAT which they may take as a senior. Taking this test also enters them in the competition for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Daniel 1 will be offering this test and has reserved places for 15 students. The test will take place at Daniel 1 Academy sometime in October 2008. Sign up for the test will start in August. Cost of the test is $15 and can be paid on the day of the test.
